Programmable 555 Timer

Golden Mousetrap Best Product Award from Design News.

The CSS555 is a micro-power version of the popular 555 timer IC. It features an operating current under 5µA and a minimum supply voltage of 1.2V, making it ideal for battery-operated applications. A six-decade programmable counter is included to allow generation of long timing delays. Configuration data for the counter is held in EEPROM to maintain the standard pin count of eight. The analog circuits are temperature compensated to provide excellent stability over a wide ambient temperature range. A simple four-wire interface provides Read/Write access to the EEPROM without adding any extra pins. It is available in green, 8 pin PDIP and SOIC packages.

CSS555C

Programmable 555 Timer with Internal Timing Capacitor

Golden Mousetrap Best Product Award from Design News.

The CSS555C is a micro-power version of the popular 555 timer IC. The CSS555C device includes an internal precision timing capacitor (CTI). Its value is trimmed to 100pF ±1%. It is available in green, 8 pin PDIP and SOIC packages.

CSS555C Demonstration Kit

The CSS555C Timer IC has an internal EEPROM to store configuration and trim settings. A simple four-wire interface provides Read/Write access to the EEPROM without adding any extra pins. The Demo Kit provides a quick and easy to use tool to reconfigure the timer’s operating modes or to trim the internal timing capacitor. The configuration settings are accessed using a “point and click” dialog box. Control of the IC’s power supply and the Reset and Trigger inputs is also available under PC control. A custom PCB, which connects to a USB port, is supplied with the Demo Kit. The “Quick Installation Guide” can have you up and running in minutes. A separate operating manual provides detailed descriptions of how to use the tool. For more information, download the complete Demo Kit Operating Manual.

CSS555 EZ Programmer

CSS has available a new, easy way to program the popular CSS555 and CSS555C timer circuits. The EZ Programmer is a simplified version of the CSS555 Demonstration Kit. It is not as flexible as the Demo Kit but no PC is required and it is very easy to program and read the settings for all configurations of the CSS555 circuits. In essence, it is as simple as setting a DIP Switch to the desired settings, pushing the programming button and observing the programmed settings in the Read Out LEDs. For more information, download the PDF version of the EZ Programmer Operating Manual.

CSS68HC68W1

CMOS Serial Digital Pulse Width Modulator

The CSS68HC68W1 modulates an input clock to provide a variable frequency and variable duty-cycle output signal. Three 8-bit registers (pulse width, frequency and control) are accessed via a 3 line serial interface. It is a direct replacement for the Intersil CDP68HC68W1. It is available in a green, 8 pin PDIP package.
