Custom Silicon Solutions renews production contract with Itron
January 19, 2010 – Irvine, CA – Custom Silicon Solutions, Inc. (CSS) (www.CustomSiliconSolutions.com), a leading fabless semiconductor company that provides turn-key custom Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) and standard product solutions, has renewed its agreement with Itron of Liberty Lake, Washington to provide a custom micro-controller ASIC. The custom ASIC, designed, tested and produced by Custom Silicon Solutions is used in the Itron automatic meter reading (AMR) systems for utility companies worldwide. Over the last four years, CSS has successfully delivered millions of this custom integrated circuit to Itron for use in the electronics of water and gas AMR systems.

Design News' Golden Mousetrap Awards highlight the best and brightest engineering innovations of the past year, as well as creativity in product design. Advanced 555 Timer Integrated Circuit - Ultra-Low Power & Programmable
June 3, 2009 – Irvine, CA – Custom Silicon Solutions, Inc. (www.CustomSiliconSolutions.com), a leading fabless semiconductor company that provides turn-key ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) and standard product solutions to its customers, is announcing the availability of the CSS555C integrated circuit, a significant improvement on the industry standard 555 timer chip.
Custom Silicon Solutions’ CSS555C is a micropower version of the popular 555 timer integrated circuit. The CSS555C adds the ability to program time delays ranging from microseconds to days and operates at extremely low power (ideal for battery-operated applications with a 10X improvement over all other 555 timer devices). The circuit includes a wide operating range of 1.2V to 5.5V with a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The CSS555C is pin-for-pin compatible with the standard 555 time circuits.
The CSS555C offers many additional features with tremendous value. Configuration data for the counter is held in EEPROM to maintain the standard pin count of eight. The analog circuits are temperature compensated to provide excellent stability over a wide temperature range. A simple four-wire interface provides Read/Write access to the EEPROM.
The CSS555C is available from CSS today in either an 8-pin DIP or an 8-pin SOIC package. Also, a Development Kit useful for programming this device is available. Please contact CSS directly for more information.

Custom Silicon Solutions Announce Availability of CSS68HC68W1
March 17, 2009 - Irvine CA - Custom Silicon Solutions.
Custom Silicon Solutions, Inc. (www.CustomSiliconSolutions.com), a leading fabless semiconductor company that provides turn-key ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) and standard product solutions to its customers, is announcing the availability of the limited supply CSS68HC68W1, a direct replacement for Intersil CDP68HC68W1 part which is now unavailable from Intersil or other sources.
The CSS68HC68W1 is commonly used in motor controller applications and features a variable programmable frequency and variable duty-cycle output signal, Schmitt trigger clock inputs, an 8 MHz clock input frequency and 2.7V to 6V operation. The part has a serial bus input compatible with the Motorola/Intersil SPI bus, a simple shift-register type interface. The CSS68HC68W1 has three 8-bit registers (pulse width, frequency and control) accessed via a 3 line serial interface.
