Industrial ASIC Applications

Non-Volatile Elapse Time & Event Counter

This ASIC is a non-volatile elapse time counter and an event counter. In the elapse time counter mode it counts time (hours, minutes, and seconds) when power is applied. At power-down it stores the current time in non-volatile memory. At power-up, that time is restored to the counter and time counting continues. In the event counter mode, it simply counts pulse inputs and stores the count in non-volatile memory at power-down. At power-up that count is restored to the counter and event counting continues. Outputs are via 7-segment LCD drivers.

Features
  • Real time or Event counter modes
  • Non-volatile counter to 99,999.9 hours
  • 10 years non-volatile memory retention
  • 1 million non-volatile memory write cycles
  • 7 segment LCD drivers
  • 32KHz crystal oscillator circuit

Micro-Power 555 Programmable Timer

The CSS555C IC is an advanced version of the popular 555 timer. It contains a six-decade programmable counter to allow time delays ranging from microseconds to days. The analog circuits are temperature compensated for good stability. An internal timing capacitor is included to minimize the number of external components. It draws 10X less current than all other 555 timer devices. This device is an “off-the-shelf” standard product available for purchase.

Features
  • Wide Supply Range (1.2V to 5.5V)
  • Ultra Low Power (< 5uA)
  • Direct Replacement for Standard 555 Timer
  • Programmable 6 Decade Counter
  • Internal 100pF Timing Capacitor (1%, NPO)
  • 8 Pin PDIP & SOIC Packages (green)
  • Configuration Data stored in EEPROM
  • 4-Wire Serial Interface
  • Temperature Range = -40°C to +85°C

10 Bit, 36V Current DAC

This ASIC is an industrial grade, 10-bit digital-to-analog converter. It provides an output current that ranges from approximately 0mA to 2mA. It is fabricated in an advanced, high voltage BiCMOS process, allowing operation from ±5V to ±18V. The output current has excellent linearity over temperature and is guaranteed monotonic. This device includes a matched feedback resistor for voltage applications. A full-scale adjustment and a bipolar offset are also provided.

Features
  • 10-Bit Resolution
  • Wide operating range
  • Supply voltage range: ±5V to ±18V
    • Temperature range: -40°C to +85°C
    • Integral Linearity = ±½LSB at 25°C
  • Differential Linearity = ±¼ LSB
    • Monotonic over temperature
  • Excellent stability over temperature

15W Thermal Controller

This device is used in precision clock generators to hold the temperature of a crystal constant. It incorporates the heating element, temperature sensor and error amplifier into one IC. An internal DAC and EEPROM set the temperature. A 15V power FET acts as the heater. The maximum current is programmable and stored in the EEPROM.

Features
  • 15W Maximum Power (15V, 1 Amp)
  • Internal Temperature Sensor
  • DAC Sets Temperature (65°C - 125°C)
  • Current Limit = 0.1A to 1.0A (16 steps)
  • 1-Wire Serial Interface
  • 5 Pin TO-252 Package
  • Temperature Range = -40°C to +125°C

8 Bit Microcontroller

This device is a direct replacement for a standard microcontroller. It is fully static, high speed and draws about 3X less power than the original version. Program storage is provided by a 4K ROM. It contains a 128 byte SRAM, memory mapped I/O, a 16 bit counter/timer and a dedicated serial interface.

Features
  • Fully Static, Low Standby Current (< 0.1uA)
  • Wide Supply Range (1.25V to 6.0V)
  • Versitile Instruction Set
  • 4K ROM, 128 byte RAM
  • 16 Bit Timer & Dedicated Serial Interface
  • 20 Lead SOIC Package
