The CSS555C IC is an advanced version of the popular 555 timer. It contains a six-decade programmable counter to allow time delays ranging from microseconds to days. The analog circuits are temperature compensated for good stability. An internal timing capacitor is included to minimize the number of external components. It draws 10X less current than all other 555 timer devices. This device is an “off-the-shelf” standard product available for purchase.

This device is used in precision clock generators to hold the temperature of a crystal constant. It incorporates the heating element, temperature sensor and error amplifier into one IC. An internal DAC and EEPROM set the temperature. A 15V power FET acts as the heater. The maximum current is programmable and stored in the EEPROM.

This device is a direct replacement for a standard microcontroller. It is fully static, high speed and draws about 3X less power than the original version. Program storage is provided by a 4K ROM. It contains a 128 byte SRAM, memory mapped I/O, a 16 bit counter/timer and a dedicated serial interface.
